In the late 1970s a group from the U.S.E.I.T (now First Schools) credit union led by it's chairman Chuck Myers (hence Chuck's group) played cards (probability seminar) on Friday afternoons and began playing golf on Saturday mornings at Harbor (9 holes). Around 1985 Harbor golf course was closed for a major renovation. The group moved to Alondra Golf course and has been there ever since. During these early years scores were recorded on a spreadsheet maintained by John Otte, the credit union manager, on a computer at the credit union referred to as the "Otte Meter". The remaining active member from this original group is Jerry Bichlmeier.

As life changes occur, members of the group changed their status from active to inactive. New members join the group to replace our inactive members. A new member usually starts as an invited guest of an existing active member. After they have demonstrated their ability to get along with the rest of the members and pay their gambling debts immediately, they are then invited to join.

After moving to Torrance, Gregg Jackson joined the group and wrote a computer program that replaced the Otte meter. This new program ran on Jerry Bichlmeier's laptop computer for the next 17 years. In 2012 we decided to move the program to an internet based platform where this historical piece now resides.
